Oh....
my obsession with stripes continues.
I was reading my blogging friend Camille's blog, The Vintique Object, and saw a photo of her bathroom with this fabulous rug in it! She too is a fellow renter trying to spruce up her place within the constraints of renting.
I heart that rug!
Camille kindly sent me a link to the rug.
Thanks Camille.
Funny, she thought of me when she bought it.
Am I that obvious???
Here are some of my favourites I have found:
The Olin Rug from Crate and Barrel {that is what Camille has}
The ever-so-popular-that-I-can't-ever-find-it-in-the-store rug from Ikea
This one from Dash and Albert, is an outdoor rug in navy,
but could be a good contender!
I would love a striped rug for my entry or laundry room, but wondering if any of you out there has one?
If you do, how to you keep it clean?
Or clean it?
I have a wonderful, yet occasionally drooly and dirty Chocolate Lab and need an easy to clean area rug!

I have been wanting a rug like this also! thanks for the sources!
ReplyDeleteOoo I like the C&B one... gorgeous!
ReplyDeleteThose are some great options! I've found several rugs through Rugs USA that look beautiful. Unfortunately they will not ship to Canada. Do you have any 'will ship to Canada' sources? While C&B is an option nothing there is quite catching my eye.
ReplyDeleteUnfortunately our sources in Canada are LACKING! I know Ikea ships, Crate and Barrel, West Elm, Pottery Barn and Wayfair will ship! I am lucky enough to live near the border so I ship to a box in the US. I will try to see if I can incorporate more "in Canada" sources!

ReplyDeleteThat is a lovely rug, and it makes a dramatic statement in the space.
ReplyDeleteOoh...I'll take one of each, please?! Happy Friday to you Barbara - great way to end of the week ;)
ReplyDeleteWow wonderful choices! Can't wait to hear what everyone says ...I can't help you here! sadley I have nothing to contribute. Other than to say thanks for keeping us informed! I think I will have to put that on my wish list when I am redoing my laundry room too! Camille has done a great job in her bathroom!
ReplyDeleteI love the striped rug, but ALSO, your friend's clever use of using two shower curtains separated in the middle. It's like adding drapes to the window in the tub area!

LOVE too! I have the IKEA one and it is a true bitch to keep clean- I have to vacuum it every day or else the black start to look grey. Having said that, it deep cleans well and with 3 kids/large dog, it's still looks as great as the day I bought it.
ReplyDeleteThanks for your tips! Still leary about getting a wool rug. In the past I have regretted that decision because someone spills coffee or the dog decides to eat a tin of sardines on it!
DeleteI completely agree with you about never being able to find that damn rug at Ikea. And yes, you are that obvious:) We all think of you when we see stripes!!
ReplyDeleteThat's why you love me, right?
DeleteI'd love a rug like that in my boring laundry room! Great finds.
ReplyDeleteThe Crate & Barrel rug would be my pick! Of course, I don't know if I'd really choose white on the floors, even if it is 50% black... I'm just not up for that kind of work (like Christine mentioned) to keep it looking fresh!
ReplyDeleteI always love black and white striped rugs. I used that Ikea rug for a client's living room and it took me around 4 months to get it! I don't know why they can't keep it in stock, it's really frustrating.
ReplyDeleteGo for an outdoor rug... that's what I have in my mudroom and it's super easy to keep clean.
ReplyDeleteCrate & Barrel is the winning one for me!!! You and your stripes ........ I'm all over that!! Not only stripes but black & white. I think I'm heading to Crate & Barrel on Sunday when we're in the states. Way over the top excited cause we're picking up some fake Marais chairs for our patio ............... and their black & white striped!!!!!!!!! ....................... okay, just kidding.
ReplyDeleteI have a Dash & Albert outdoor rug that I used in our outdoor entry in Muskoka but now sits in our kitchen. SO easy to clean!
ReplyDeleteI was thinking the same thing about the Ikea rug- it never seems to be there when I go! Good luck with your hunt!
ReplyDeleteI love everything striped and especially black and white! Just found your blog! I'm your newest follower!
ReplyDeleteWhy thanks for following. Glad I am not alone in this crazy obsession of mine!
DeleteYes, you ARE predictable when it comes to black, white and stripes!!! ;-) I'm always worried about keeping the rug clean too. Makes me wonder about the benefits of an outdoor rug in high traffic areas... it an be hosed off!! LOL!!
ReplyDeleteLove the shape of the Crate & Barrel rug - perfect for a hallway.
Victoria
loving that Dash and Albert rug...yum!
ReplyDeleteI haven't tried to wash mine yet, Barbara, but I'll be sure to let you now when I do. Thanks for the nice mention and good luck finding the perfect choice.
ReplyDeleteCamille
I love the IKEA one and will be using it in a living room makeover as well. So mod and chic!
ReplyDeleteI am lusting after the same D&A striped rug for my hallway (in taupe) and I just felt it in person, finally, yesterday at the NOVA Design Center. I have to say, for the prices (I think like $138 for a runner), the indoor/outdoor is totally do-able. Wasnt as scratchy and rough as others. Cant wait to see what you decide.
