After a bit of a DIY hiatus, I have finally whipped out some spray paint and made over a tray I had laying around.
It came with my pleather ottoman {yes, I own pleather, don't judge me! Hoping to make that over on another rainy day}.
The good folks at Kilz gave me a gallon of their Clean Start No-Voc Primer, Low Odor Primer to try out.
This tray was a perfect project to do just that.
After a light sanding, I applied the primer. It has fabulous coverage and very little smell. That is great in my books. And the clean up was a snap, just water needed, no stinky paint thinner. Loved this!
I am very fond of eco-friendly alternatives. This one seems to be a keeper!
After a few light coats of red spray paint.
And quick wipe of rub'n'buff along the edge.
A fabulous new tray.
Love what a bit of spray paint and rub'n'buff can do!
Hope you are enjoying your Wednesday.
We are experiencing rain and chilly temps, my husband calls it "Junuary"
Later.
This looks great! I'm on the hunt for a tray for my coffee maker & supplies, I'll keep this makeover in mind!
ReplyDeleteBarbara! This is one project that I am for sure copying.. like asap! So simple and smart! You are good! Love love love it! But where do I get the rub and buff?
ReplyDeleteThe gold edge makes it look so much more expensive. Nice touch.
ReplyDeleteLove how attention to detail brings this project to the next level. So pretty! Enjoy you 'Junuary'...we're already sweating buckets in Texas. Yuck!

Love the red and the gold gives it a real custom look...nice job!
ReplyDeleteYou go girl, it looks great. No judgement on the pleather life is a process of before DIY and after DIY.
ReplyDeleteSeriously ....... this Junuary or whatever you want to call it, sucks!!! But your tray looks wonderful. I have been wanting to try out gold leafing on some ikea frames to emulate the ones at Chapters. Ya know the ones? They have a linen matting with silver leafing on the edges. BEAUTIFUL.
ReplyDeleteWhat a fantastic project! Just a touch of gold like that really amps up the whole look. Great job!
ReplyDeleteLove it! Especially that gold detail. Good to know that kill has a non- stinky version. I'll send you some 42c heat from here!
