Things don't stay the same in our house for long.
After re-painting my son's room, I realized I didn't like his burlap bulletin board anymore.
The burlap trend is alive and kicking but I can't say I have taken to it. Burlap is a crotchety sort, tickling my nose, making me sneeze.
So bye-bye burlap.
Hello black and white stripes.
If you have been following along you will notice my obsession with black and white stripes. I have recovered this, that, and made this with the same fabric.
Yes, I love stripes.
Come back to see how I made this, just in case you are dying to know how.
XO Barbara
I know you love your b&w stripes and this is just another example of how well it works. Love it!!!
ReplyDeleteYou are really working the B/W stripe trend lately, and I love it! Looks so awesome with the black nailhead trim too.

I liked the burlap, but I LOVE the B & W stripes. Looks perfect Barbara!
ReplyDeletelove the way you've positioned that, so the tacks on the top and bottom almost form scallops. The stripes are much more hip for a boy's room! I can't get into the burlap upholstery, it's so scratchy!
ReplyDeleteYou have to do what works for you. Looks great.
ReplyDeleteIt looks fantastic Barbara and everything you put on it looks great too!
ReplyDeleteBarbara you are speaking my language...that black and white stripe works everywhere...every time!
ReplyDeleteLove how this turned out Barbara! So gorgeous!!! Love the wall colour too? What's the name of that beauty? Cheers, amy*
ReplyDeletePs. Thanks so much for adding me to your blogroll. You're so sweet!
I love the stipes! So fresh and clean!
ReplyDelete@Amy. The wall colour is Stonington Grey by BM. The photos don't do the wall colour justice as the lighting in his room faces north. With all the dark and cloudy skies we keep having, makes it hard to take decent photos!
ReplyDeleteI liked the burlap until you showed the striped version. Now I LOVE the striped one! Gosh you are so motivated, tackling project after project!
ReplyDeleteI love the new look. It is definitely a bolder look, and looks fantastic. I am working on a similar project, so can't wait to see the how-to.
ReplyDeleteYou can't go wrong with b&w stripes - so classic! Love the bulletin board.
ReplyDeleteI love stripes and the black and white striped fabric is a wonderful choice for a bulletin board! Well done, Barbara. It looks beautiful!
ReplyDeleteLooking forward to read about the tutorial.

Your son has one very stylish bulletin board!
ReplyDeleteCan't go wrong with stripes... especially black and white stripes. Lovely! Or perhaps I should say "rockin" if it's for your son's room.
ReplyDeleteI love the burlap, but the black and white stripe is stunning! LOVE

The stripes are much better. I'm not into Burlap either. A great effect now!

Great decision to change out the burlap Barb (not a huge fan of the itchy stuff either) and an even better decision to use the stripes as the new cover! Looks terrific :-)

So cute! fun choice :)
ReplyDeleteLOVE IT!
ReplyDeleteOur board is blue and white stripes...vertical!
I would love to know where you purchased the May the Force be with you sign?
ReplyDelete@Kellie. I made that "May the Force Be with You!"

ReplyDeleteLOVE the black and white stripes! I need this!!! It would work well in my office. Hugs,

Your stripes are awesome! I had bought burlap to cover 2 bulletin boards, but we moved before I could get to it... that's the burlap we're now using to cover a few throw pillows for my daughter's room instead. And I hear you on the nature of burlap! But she's adamant that she wants to use it, so here goes :-)
ReplyDeleteI love it! I've been wanting to re-do my boring boards so this is inspiring to get DIY-ing this weekend. I have tons of fabric scraps I can use. And the nailheads are a great touch. ; )
