Can you believe it? I am actually posting today! Shocking as my posts have been pathetically sporadic. But this lady has been holidaying and enjoy summer!
Yes, I am on vacation again this week.
Life is rough...
This time our family is hanging out at a lake with my husband's family. We rented a lake house and I am going to be a lady of leisure this week. The plan is to work on my tan, hit a few wineries, read decor magazines and a good book.
Any suggestions for a good book? { I have read "The Help"}
Do you find vacationing gets in the way of projects? I have NOT accomplished much in the decor department. Hoping to tackle the list when I get back.
But others are keeping busy this summer. A reader, Laura from Rambling Along, emailed me her latest project, a fantastic Ikea Rast hack! Love how she omitted the top drawer and turn it into a shelf. Her mix of colour, pattern and fabric makes the Rast dresser look fantastic!
Check it out!
So while I am lounging lakeside, I hope you take the time to enter my giveaway to win one of my daughter's paintings!

Enjoy your getaway Barbara!! Have to enjoy summer while we have it!
ReplyDeleteYour description of how you're going to spend your lakeside holiday sounds devine! I hope you get to relax and soak in the sun every single day, topped off with some great wine! The projects will wait!
ReplyDeleteIt looks like you're visiting right where I live! Have a great vacation, and enjoy our beautiful weather.
ReplyDeleteLove the picture called 'Autumn Sunset'! Your daughter is very talented! (takes after her mom, obviously!)
ReplyDeleteHave you read The Tea Rose? My sister just lent it to me and so far it is good. Definitely a good long book for a vacation!
ReplyDeleteThat looks great!! Where are people getting these Rast dressers??? I didn't think IKEA Canada was selling them anymore, but the more people do with them the more envious I become...oh, and am also envious of your holiday! Enjoy...I read The Forgotten Garden (great), I've heard good things about the Room (but it sounds ultra intense for a vacay-read), and then there are my old faves like Time Traveller's Wife and Memoirs of a Geisha....have fun whatever you read!
ReplyDeleteYour vacation plans sound fantastic! Hope you have a great time.
ReplyDeleteBy the way, I am hosting an exciting giveaway and the winner will receive a $75 gift card from Arcadian Lighting. Don't miss out! :)

Soak up that summer! It certainly took its time reaching you this year! Apart from outdoor projects or spray painting outside, I've never really gotten a lot of projects done in the summer - plenty of time when temps cool down and it's wet out for that. Summer is so short in Canada - you need to savour every moment :)
ReplyDeleteLove this hack, the top being left open is a great idea!!
ReplyDeleteHave so much fun Barbara and see you soon! :)

Another vacation...lucky girl! I'm guessing Okanagan since you're doing winery tours. I'm reading The Birth House and it's really good. Also just finished The Guernsey Pototo Peel Pie and Literary Club and it was awesome. Both great for the beach. Looking forward to seeing you when you're back!
ReplyDeleteOh you lucky duck! I find that summer we all seem to be quite sporatic. It's normal. I'm reading an oldie but a goodie ..... "When snow falls on Cedars" So far so good.
ReplyDeleteGood books? Um, recently I've enjoyed State of Wonder by Ann Patchett. The Elegance of the Hedgehog, by Muriel Barbary was also a fantastic read.
ReplyDeleteIt's nice to discover a great blog by someone who lives nearby... It makes the world seem less ungraspably (I know that's not a word) large.
Happy vacation!!

I love Maeve Binchy books and I was thrilled to see she has a new one out. Sorry, I can't remember the name of it for the life of me, but I am pretty sure they'll have it at Costco! Have a great vacation!
ReplyDeleteLooks great! I love these re-do's too. That piece of furniture is the perfect one to get creative with.
ReplyDeleteI used the EXACT same fabric from Premier Prints (online) in my end table project here:

Isn't it great? I love the quirkiness of a parrot thrown into some ordinary damask-type print.
