One Room Challenge | Laundry Room : Week 5 & 6

Skipping onto week 6, last week so much turmoil was happening that I just needed to step away and clear my mind and sit with my thoughts.

Welcome to week SIX of the One Room Challenge! If you are new here, I am a kindergarten teacher by day and DIY/design aficionado by night. My husband and I are currently renting our home, but it hasn't stopped me from creating a comfortable and beautiful home for our family.

If you are new here, we are tackling our laundry room for the One Room Challenge, and it is all about being VERY budget friendly along with renter friendly. I will take you through my process as we drag this out over 8 weeks!

Making Progress:

Last week I finally gathered up the courage to install the toile wallpaper that Roommates Decor so graciously supplied for this project! The learning curve was small, and once I got the hang of matching the pattern it was somewhat smooth sailing. Since this is a tight space, there were so many little nooks and crannies to deal with, which made it challenging. It would have been way easier if the room was just a flat wall instead of having to navigate around door frames, cabinets and a sink. But alas, it is done!

The cabinets were painted the week previously, and I let them cure. Since they are laminate, I wanted to ensure good adhesion, so I let all the layers of primer and paint to dry thoroughly. The new hardware from Emagn Designs were installed! I needed to just measure where a new hole was going to be drilled. The hardware looks amazing!

I re-hung the open shelves that I hung over the sink many years ago. At first, I was thinking of spraying the brackets gold, but I liked the black and the warm wood against the wallpaper.

What's Next:

  • paint back door
  • paint floor OR find peel and stick tiles in charcoal
  • accessorize
  • print up vintage digital art
This week I am getting these two pieces of vintage art which are free digital downloads from the Metropolitan Museum of Art

In the meantime, go visit the One Room Challenge blog to check out the featured designers AND the over 600 guest participants!
