I had these grand plans and posts all ready to go (in my head, of course) and then the reality of life came crashing down. My husband was in a serious cycling accident. How it happened is actually a funny story, but his injuries are no laughing matter. After an unexpected phone call from paramedics and an evening spent in the ER, he came home with a fractured skull at his neck, a concussion, many bad scrapes, torn ligaments and serious whiplash. That was 3 weeks ago. He is slowly on the mend but it sure makes you realize how lucky he and we are! All that has my mind reeling which meanrs projects and intentions went by the wayside.
And my poor elderly dog, he is hanging on at 13.5 years, but is starting to really, really slow down. Every day I wonder if it will be our last with him. He is a chocolate lab and has been full of life, until recently. So with a vet's guidance he is taking medication to help ease his arthritic pain. He still get excited to eat and run in the woods, so we know he isn't ready to go.
My poor blog has been so neglected. There have been times I have felt like abandoning it altogether but my husband said why would I? It is something I enjoy doing and my creative outlet. So it still stands - barely.....
I have done a few little projects recently, one at my sister's place thanks to CIL Paints, but we have yet to put finishing touches on the rooms to have them ready to be photographed. We are both teachers and both work and raise families, which leaves little time for creative pursuits. AND with my hubby's recent accident, I just ran out of oomph. Hope I can share the makeovers on two rooms in her house soon!
So....I am just popping in to say hi!
Hugs.
B

Oh Barbara... I'm sorry about your husband's accident. How stressful that must have been! I'm glad that he is slowly getting better... I can't imagine.
ReplyDeleteTaking some time for yourself isn't necessarily a bad thing... and the blog will be waiting for you when you're ready to come back. Take care of you, lady!
So sorry to hear of his accident, but thankful he is okay. And, I can totally relate to having an elderly dog. We finally had put our sweet 13 year old Golden down last spring. You will know when the time is right.
ReplyDeleteThat accident sounds awful! I am happy that he is going to be okay though. How scary.
ReplyDeleteI think about leaving my blog too - for a number of reasons but figure...well...no harm in just letting it linger in case I change my mind, right? So let your's linger - we'll be here when you come back!
Barbara, so sorry to hear about your husband's accident. Definitely take care of yourself, your family and your life.....we will be here when you come back -- even if its just to check in!
ReplyDeleteBig hugs xo
Christine
Hope all is well. Life is a tricky balance isn't it? Take care Barbara
ReplyDeleteSo scary! Glad to hear your hubs is ok all considered. Cycling can have scary spills. Take care! Thankfully there's always Instagram to stay in touch :)
ReplyDeleteHang in there Barbara. Please don't ever shut down your blog. I love reading what you are up to. Even though today's post was with some tragic events regarding your hubby and your poor elderly dog, live happens, doesn't it? I'm glad your husband will be okay and the vet is helping manage your dog's arthritis. My bosses Chocolate Lab, Pangaea, had to be put down recently. She was 14 and couldn't get around anymore. He even had her at a special chiropractor for her arthritis and joint pain! Our pets are family and when they get ill, grow old, or both, it is heart-wrenching. Just take care of what you need to and we'll be waiting for you when you return. I just realized this is the very first time I've ever commented on your blog! LOL Shame on me! - Karen
ReplyDeleteThanks Karen! Glad you like my blog - I hope once school is done, I will feel more inspired!
DeleteHey, the blog is the least of your worries! God bless your husband , you, your family and your dog. Family issues are certainly trumping others these days and you are needed close by. I hope everything heals soon. Take time for yourself. xo Nancy

ReplyDeleteSo glad your hubby is on the mend.
ReplyDeleteFamily is really the most important thing - when everyone is well and you have a bit more time I'm sure you'll get back to sharing your lovely style. I know I'll be here to read, and judging by the many previous comments on this post I'm by no means the only one.
Oh accidents like that are so scary, they really can shake you up. I am happy to hear that he is ok! I am always happy when your blog pops up on my feed, and I rarely notice how long it has been. Like hearing from a good buddy, and no time has passed. :-)
