~An Afternoon Tea with Good Company~

This past weekend I had the most wonderful afternoon with good company. Victoria, a very friendly, talented designer and blogger and one of my biggest supporters organized a tea for local bloggers at a quaint cafe, The Little White House Salon Cafe in historic Fort Langley, BC.

I was honoured to be included in the group that is full of amazing talent. While relishing the tiny sandwiches, savouries, desserts and petit fours we enjoyed great conversation, getting to know one another a little bit better.

It was delightful  to meet in person the ever talented women behind inspirational local blogs. Among the group was ( from left to right), Nancy from Marcus Design, Maria from Colour Me Happy, Victoria from Design Ties, myself, Tracy from My House of Giggles, Catherine from peace love sweater, and Karla  from Kerrisdale Design.

We enjoyed wandering around the The Little White House, the furniture, accessories and clothing shop owned by Cheryl Krecsy, whose home and this shop has been featured in various publications such as Style at Home and Canadian House and Home. The shop and cafe is situated inside a historical home, The Marr House

The shop is loaded with gorgeous furnishings, antiques, luxurious linens, one of a kind clothing, lighting and accessories. Everywhere you looked there was a feast for the eyes.

I love the rustic elegance of the cafe, the mix of crystal chandeliers, ornate mirrors, white furniture and the rustic barn board walls.

I love this chandelier, it reminds me of a cluster of grapes. I love how it casts a unique shadow on the ceiling.

Thank-you Victoria from Design Ties for organizing the get together. We all look forward to more!

  1. Barbara I love your post!! You got some really great photos. It was so awesome to meet you and to realize what a similar path we have both had :) Can't wait to get together again.

On a side note, that 'cluster of grapes' chandelier...believe it or not it is from Home Depot!!! My hairdresser actually bought the same one for his salon but he sprayed the gold metal with a shiny white heat-resistant paint and it looked crazy amazing! Fun hey?

  3. Photos of BC BlogGURLS!! :-)
To answer your question - they look like stumps, but in fact they have cedar "foilage" on the neighbour's side... and they're on his property. So no; we can't cut them down :-( I suppose I shouldn't call them stumps because it's misleading - I guess they're actually trunks. Because the cedar branches on our side were dead (no light) and because they were encroaching about 5' onto our property, we removed them from the trunks leaving what looks like stumps. As for the fence - we're definitely thinking about horizontal boards! Well... I am... hubby wants something inexpensive, and horizontal panels may have to be custom made. So... we'll see.
Sorry for taking up so much comment space with my long-winded answer!! :-)

  4. How wonderful to meet other bloggers face to face. It looks like you had a great time. I'm so glad you stopped by to give me some ideas. Fabric is my first choice, and maybe making one a ribboned board would be a nice contrast. It's just to continue and finish off the details now. What would you choose for a window covering? We could keep the curtains or not?

  5. How fun! I'd love to meet other bloggers from my area. As far as I know, I'm the only person in my mid-sized city that is blogging about anything design related.
